- On 04 November 2002, Phnom Penh, Cambodia,
ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers signed the “Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea” (DOC) which is a political milestone to promote peace, stability and mutual trust.

ASEAN and China decided to established the “Terms of Reference of the ASEAN-China Joint Working Group on the Implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea”

- On 21 July 2011, in China,
ASEAN and China adopted “Guidelines for the Implementation of the DOC” in the ASEAN Post Ministerial Meeting (PMC)
